Year One

So for my first studio lighting assignment, we had to use studio lights in various different arrangements. We only have to turn in 6 final prints, so I decided that I would aim for three diptychs. I really like how this series turned out, and I think there’s a lot of room for growth with this idea. I haven’t decided if this is the direction I want to head in for the final project or not, but it’s always an option.

I’m also working on a couple pieces for drawing that I think are turning out really nicely. We’re still working on the skeleton and musculature. I’ll probably have those uploaded for next week’s post.
My mouse and keyboard shipped out today, which I’m pretty stoked about, because I thought they weren’t going to ship until the 13th. I haven’t really got that much StarCraft2 in this week, but I did crack 1000 points on the ladder. Yay, for arbitrary goals sucessfully completed!
Fall break is coming up in a couple weeks, and I think I’m going to devote those two days to taking a serious look at some serious art schools. I want to find out what’s available in terms of programs and scholarships. Art school is notoriously expensive, and I need to find out if there’s anyway to mitigate that. It’s pretty clear to me at this point that EKU is not a good long term solution for me. I’m crushing in all my classes, and I really need to be challenged to grow.

It’s finally turning into fall around here, and I’m sure winter will be close on it’s heels. It’s hard to believe that it’s already October; it’s hard to believe I left the engineering world one year ago. Things are moving so fast that I have trouble looking back and reflecting. Did I make some mistakes, yeah, but I think my overall plan has been good. Things are still moving forward. Thanks to everyone who’s been supportive and encouraging over the last year. Thanks Mom and Dad for trying to understand. And thanks mostly to Leanna, you’ve helped me more than you even know.
Love you guys,
Ryan
